HAND SCREEN PRINTED, HAND SPUN & HANDLOOMED

We collaborate with a family of 7th generation master printers in Bagru, India to create our screen printed fabric. Artisans use screens, frames, and dye to transfer print designs onto fabric.

Screens are used instead of blocks for larger prints or prints that are prone to inconsistencies. Nature plays an important role in the process, from mineral rich water and the sun’s rays to plants and the earth, all used in various stages of printing.

Our khadi fabric is hand loomed using hand spun yarns. Artisan weavers use a spinning wheel to hand spin natural fibers into yarn. Then, they weave the yarn into fabric on a loom using pedals and shuttles. The whole process takes place without the aid of electricity.

“Kitties,” or bits of the environment caught in the fibers, are inherently part of the fabric and aren’t seen as defects but rather add to the character of the fabric.

This technique creates a breathable and durable fabric with a linen-like texture that will keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Cy is 5'10" and wears a small. Sasha (sunglasses) is 5'10" and wears a small. Fits true to size.

Care

Machine wash delicate in cold water with pH-neutral soap. Do not bleach. Hang to dry. Warm iron if needed, or dry clean with petroleum solvent only.
