MIRTH is looking for a sharp, motivated and friendly leader to manage and assist in various areas of a small but growing women’s ready to wear brand. This candidate will take ownership of day-to-day Houston operations. The ideal candidate has an interest in operations, content creation and planning, has strong organization skills, and excels in written and verbal communication. There is potential for quick growth and candidate will have the ability to mold the role based on interests and skills. Candidate must be understanding of the nuances of working for a small and independent business and come ready with vision and scrappiness, and must have willingness to innovate, manage up and be resourceful. This candidate will assist, and soon take the lead, in various capacities including but not limited to the descriptions below.

This is a new role. The responsibilities are somewhat fluid based on candidate, and may change due to the ever changing landscape of our industry.

 

WHOLESALE

  • Tracking & entering wholesale POs into Google Docs and filing orders for upcoming seasons; prepping for wholesale shipments 5 times a year
  • Working via email and phone with wholesale sales rep on all wholesale POs.  Manage and execute the shipping and payments for wholesale accounts each season including: sending ready to ship emails, collecting information, double checking documents/charts for accuracy, creating invoices, tracking and taking payments, overseeing the shipping of orders, managing RAs & general customer service. There is hope for streamlining and improving current systems in this area
  • Working with showroom and sales rep to facilitate wholesale orders and other wholesale needs, like sharing photography, shipping samples, and creating shipping labels
  • Assisting with line sheet creation
  • Maintaining “ATS” and working with wholesale rep to manage inventory available to sell as immediates
  • Potential to assist in trade shows (travel required)
  • Creating wholesale hang tags and marketing materials
  • Managing holiday mailings to wholesale accounts

 

WEBSITE

  • Working daily in Shopify (no experience required)
  • Maintaining website to ensure seamless user experience, including updating stockists, product listings, press mentions and optimizing SEO
  • Entering wholesale and retail products into Shopify each season
  • Assisting in updating website and improving current site, including written content, storytelling, aesthetic improvement, site function improvement
  • Editing and resizing photos
  • Prepping site for sales and product launches
  • Assisting in new website launch

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Preparing and sending press kits as directed
  • Preparing, packing and sending influencer gifts as directed by publicist; coordinate deliveries and tracking
  • Assisting with general PR research and working with publicist on general PR needs
  • Creating PR line sheets for each season 

 

INVENTORY, SHIPPING, RECEIVING

  • Candidate will be responsible for generally overseeing the warehouse and its staff, and ensuring successful order shipping. This includes making sure orders are packed correctly and beautifully with an eye for aesthetics, updating marketing materials that change seasonally, ensurig shipping timelines are met, identifying and solving problems, streamlining and improving systems, communicating customer service needs and ensuring they are executed correctly, ensuring shipping supplies are ordered in the most cost effective way and ensuring inventory is completed correctly.
  • Managing and monitoring inventory health, including repairs
  • During busy seasons and times when the warehouse manager is out, candidate will need to work in the warehouse as an extra hand in shipping orders. The warehouse manager will direct.
  • Maintain relationships with shipping carriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx)
  • Work with warehouse manager to assist in hiring and coordinating order packers

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Candidate will manage all aspects of customer service, both direct to consumer and wholesale, giving a cheerful and positive experience for anyone who interacts with MIRTH. We provide quick service that goes beyond customer expectations. Needs to be able to turn a disgruntled customer into a customer for life. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Responding to and executing all customer service requests: emails, social media comments (in coordination with social media manager), occasional phone calls and in-person requests
  • Managing and maintaining Returnly, our returns software, and running reports, identifying problems, handling customer service requests, handling wrong items shipped and damaged product, and working with warehouse to correct
  • Managing and coordinating in person returns and exchanges
  • Taking sales appointments at the studio 
  • Creating and implementing customer relationship programs: birthday program, ambassador program, etc.
  • Receiving and coordinating office mail + packages

 

PHOTOSHOOTS + EVENTS

  • Assisting before and during photoshoots (5 - 6 per year) with potential for styling and creative direction assistance
  • Researching photoshoot locations
  • Arranging for and coordinating loan outs for shoots from other brands and stores
  • Coordinating and working trunk shows and events including assisting at annual holiday fundraiser; prepping for, setting up for and working sample sales and trunk shows
  • General event planning assistance
  • General travel planning assistance
  • Assisting with product photography

 

PRODUCTION

  • Creating barcodes and managing printing and barcoding
  • Preparing / sending production needs to partners in India
  • Researching and possibly implementing EDA compliance
  • Researching better systems for shipping (carriers, packing methods, etc.)
  • Potential to work with our production team on our supply chain in India
  • Organizing swatch cards, fabric/trim submits for production
  • Organizing and maintaining archival fabric and swatch library
  • Assisting in sourcing (colors examples, buttons, trims, zippers, etc.)
  • Errands as needed within Houston
  • Coordinate hang tag creation including special disclaimer tags

 

GENERAL

  • Reconciling credit card statements
  • Invoicing shared warehouse tenants for expenses
  • Special projects will arise occasionally
  • There is some potential for WFH, along with certain busy shipping periods of the year when candidate must be in Houston to assist in shipping
  • We will look to this candidate to improve internal processes and systems
  • Maintaining a pleasant workspace at the studio and acting as point person for studio supplies and environment
  • Troubleshooting and supplying solutions to team
  • Contributing to creative brainstorms
  • Helping to create a caring environment for the team
  • Assisting in general HR initiates to keep a happy team and fun working environment
  • Responsible for hiring, training and managing intern(s)

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree
  • Experience in a professional work environment for 2+ years
  • Brings new ideas to the table with action plan for implementation
  • Ability to self start and manage up
  • Friendly, positive, helpful disposition
  • Strong planning & organization skills
  • Adequate knowledge of GoogleDocs, Instagram, Facebook, Canva & Excel. Photoshop or other photo editing software is a plus, as is Shopify
  • Strong writing skills and knowledge of American grammar and punctuation standards
  • Manages time well: balancing attention to detail with time spent and big picture
  • Resourcefulness
  • Willing to work with limited resources at a small, self-funded business with limited structure
  • Willingness for potential remote work
  • Ability to identify and willingness to step in and help in any aspect of the business, even if outside of job description
  • Sense of the MIRTH aesthetic and voice and willingness to carry it throughout work
  • Meets deadlines & takes notes
  • Proactively asks questions & observes to learn the job without official training
  • Candidate must display good judgment and carry MIRTH ideals whether on or off duty

  • Graphic design, web development and photography skills are a plus but not required

EXPECTATIONS

  • Signing of NDA, non-compete, and employee agreement which includes 30-day written notice of termination of employment
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Driving within 30 miles of central Houston on work related business is required on occasion
  • Occasional night and weekend work required
  • Potential travel for market, trunk shows or photoshoots
  • There are periods throughout the year when in person work is required (PTO cannot be taken), including but not limited to February-May; there could be some exceptions made on a case-by-case basis
