Tourists tend to skip over my former home in Switzerland, and the lack of crowds in the summer helps keep it one of the best kept secrets in Europe. Zurich’s flughafen is an international hub, making it easy to fly into and take a 15 minute train into the city-that-feels-like-a-village.

Pack a swimsuit and embrace the lido culture by bouncing around river and lakeside badis, or swimming spots, that dot the city. Order an afternoon gespritzt sauer, a refreshing, icy white wine with sparkling water and lemon, as you take in the Alps and enjoy this quiet luxury city that’s surprisingly cool.

The cheese and chocolate are indeed spectacular, but there’s soviel more to Zurich. I recently returned from a visit there and put together some of my favorite spots to bookmark for the trip you should book ASAP.
