do you have nothing-to-wear days? well, here's your answer: the kolkata top in a soft gray handwoven jamdani.
we love it because its length covers all the right spots, and the sloping hem is perfect for a front tuck with your favorite jeans. the collar stays high and elastic sleeves create a chic and casual look we want to wear all weekend.
this jamdani fabric is woven in the homes of highly skilled weavers tiny villages in west bengal, outside of the city of kolkata. this is a special fabric native only to this region. weavers create the mitofs in the fabric using needle and thread while the fabric itself is being woven on the handloom. every part of the process takes place locally and without the aid of electricity. as the motifs are woven by sight, each one varies a bit and varies weaver to weaver.
subtle bands in the fabric are the result of the varying humidity in the air and the hand-dyed yarn hanks. this is inherent in this kind of handwoven and are part of it's beauty. as a result, each top is unique and we think you'll wear it again and again.
this top has a loose and bigger fit. size s/m can fit anywhere from 0 - 8, depending on your fit preference. m/l can fit 6 - 14.
